My students call me Ms. Mary. I’m a lifelong musician and an artist. I’ve been playing the piano just about every day since I was a child, and I’ve never regretted a single moment spent behind the keys. I have a strong desire to teach and believe it is my calling. By getting to know each student and establishing personalized goals, choosing appealing repertoire, and employing my own games and worksheets, I aim to keep classes both engaging and fun.

After earning my Bachelor’s in Music with a concentration in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, I began teaching piano in various settings in Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Texas. I knew from the start that sharing the gift of music would be a lifelong endeavor. I enjoy sharing my expertise and have a natural ability to connect with people.

My primary goal in piano teaching is to instill in my students a lifetime love of music and music-making. Though I personalize my instruction to each student’s needs, I think that all students should develop: a healthy technique, a musical ear, fluency in music reading, and successful practice habits. These skills are best learned through teacher modeling and exploration, which is why I encourage studying a diverse range of musical styles and analyzing music with my students.
